Here is a snapshot of something awesome in progress – my workshop slowly pulling together! I am so amazed at the wonderful things everyone has done. We just wrapped up the Sekhmet Healing ceremony. There are no words for seeing Her. Ptah came with a message for us all as well – a blessing I did not expect!
Tomorrow is Weshem-ib. Then, we name the Shemsu – Dua Netjer! Dua Sekhmet! Dua Ptah! Nekhtet!
Yesterday afternoon we enjoyed a lecture on lesser known gods from Daryt, Tanebet and Kai-Imakhu Sedjemes, followed by the daunting task of making amulets to ward against the dangers of the year. After amulet-making I was very worn out – I feel like I snoozed through dinner. We wrapped up the night with prayers and meditation for our Akhu – a beautiful way to end the night. I wound up turning in early rather than staying up for fellowship – probably a wise decision. This morning we will be discussing the gods, followed by a group heka workshop run by none other than me! *gulp* I will check in later after lunch to let you all know how it goes. May Aset bless you on Her birthday! Nekhtet!
This morning we kicked off Retreat with Senut to Ptah, the god over Year 19. A beautiful meditation, followed by good discussion about the Senut rite and the year to come. Now it is time for lunch, with workshops and amulet-making later. Three candles are lit, for the three epagomenal days that have passed: Wesir, Heru-wer and Set, Whose birthday is today. More to come later, I hope – Dua Ptah! Nekhtet!
The activities of Heru’s day have just wrapped up. The priesthood was hard at work today, discussing the finer points of our job and the depth behind our rites. It left me feeling pretty worn out, I must say! We finished the evening with a meal together, and now I am headed for some low key fellowship with other Shemsu. I hope you are all having good celebrations in your homes, and I look forward to what the rest of the week has to bring!
We’re in the final stretch! Oh my goodness! Only 9 days until I leave for Retreat and only 9 days left in Year 18! Exclamation points!
Seriously though, I’m in scrambling mode. I have way too much to do before I get on that plane on the 29th. I have to wash all my whites, I have to pick up a few travel necessities, I have to actually pack, I have to finish making Wep Ronpet cards for everyone – there’s a lot that needs doing. I know that things are even busier Tawy-side though, and I am very grateful that we have such a dedicated person making sure we all can get together again this year.
I’ve never been very good at traveling. I get very anxious, and of course this is no exception. I am chewing on the ends of all my pencils trying to figure out how I’m getting to and from the airport each way – especially since this year, I have to arrive separately from the person I’ll be traveling with.
It will all work out one way or another. I hope I can bring y’all some interesting content from the road, as it were. For now, I will make the most of the year of Zep Tepi, and prepare to hang on through the Days Upon the Year for year 19.
